Courses For Non-Runners

Officially, my job title was 'Kitchen Porter,' and I got the reputation for being quite good at it. I've always disliked messy places and disorganised situations and I'm sure this trait helped turn me into a good kitchen porter. From what I heard the the previous kitchen porters had all been slow, lazy and had the wrong attitude. The way I saw it was, the quicker I washed everything, the quicker I would finish and have free time to myself. Besides, I had just spent four months doing absolutely nothing in Dundee and relished the the idea of doing something constructive. Granted, it was only keeping a kitchen clean but I was learning new things and feeling vital again. I was one of the worlds greatest dishwashers, totally professional and dedicated to the job. College hotel and catering courses would find out about me and want to know my secrets. I was a dishwashing phenomenon. It was only a matter of time before I went 'International'. I'd soon be getting requests to do seminars and lectures on dishwashing from LA to Hong Kong. It was only a matter of time before my 'genius' in the sink was discovered.

A New Town

I arrived around mid-day
In mid-January
With a hangover

After dumping my belongings
In any appropriate place
I lay
On the un-sheeted bed
With my boots on
An listened
To the sounds of west Glasgow
Through the broken window panes

The never ending traffic
Creating a constant
Humming ambience
That was contained
By the grey, dull, damp weather
That was sitting on the city

I felt strange
Lying there
Looking at the blackening sky
And listening
To the sounds of the city
Wondering
If it was going to be
Good to me

M: Hey, did you know when John Travolta's mother was expecting him she knew that her son was going to be dancer because he moved around and kicked a lot when he was in her womb.

R: Yeah, that or else he was going to be epileptic.

Too many people plan, work and live for the future
And often the future does not contain
The happiness the people planned, worked and lived for

"You really are a slippery snake, but I like you. You are harmless," she said as if she could see straight through me.
The bus began to slow down and I recognized that we had reached Lochgilphead. "Ah well, that's my stop, nice talking to you," I said.
She smiled at me. "Nice talking to you Frank, and remember, if you are gonna do anything in your life, make sure you do it well or don't do it at all."
"Right, thanks."
I always appreciated good advice.

More frustration.. uploaded a Magnetto Influence photo last night and it worked and looked good. The only problem was the text flow looked a bit amateurish (isn't this blog I hear you ask) so I deleted it and postponed the correction and new post until this morning. Now when I try to upload it my blog and AOL crash!
I'm presuming it was the photo (s) that were causing the problems and therefore I'm not entirely sure if this text is going to publish.. ah well here goes, testing 1, 2, 3..., testing 1, 2, 3..

Yesterday was quite a frustrating day, what with trying to upload some of Magnetto Influences music catalogue onto limewire and managing to lose some of the files/songs (the best mixes). As I say, it was frustrating but one of the Magnetto Influence philosophies is never to give up! All we can say is watch this space, Magnetto Influence music will be available soon...

In the meantime, and in order to keep things simple, today's Magnetto Influence shall come in the form of a poem:

The Wild Dogs of Turkey

They roamed around
The promenade
And shingle beach
Of the coastal village
I swear I saw
An American pit-bull terrier
With long legs
Short brown hair
With a foot long blood red tongue
Which swayed from its snarled mouth
Just missing the ground
As the beast
Patrolled the walkway
Looking for a dog-fight
Or any other kind of trouble
It looked evil

I kept out of its way
