Today

Walking along
A quiet leafy London suburban street
Minding my own business

I heard a commotion
In the house up ahead
Angry shouting, doors slamming
Some kind of domestic incident
Humans detesting each other
Ugly
After a few seconds
A young man came storming out
Must have been in his early twenties
Violently kicked the gate open
Started walking towards me
It looked like he hated the world
It looked like he hated me
I saw him clenching his fists
Oh no, action time!
I straightened up, chest out
Looked hard into his eyes
I was ready for him
I would take him out easily
I knew it
He knew it

He walked by

I’m glad my acting skills
Are good
Because I’m not a fast runner
